Comment: Students who have expressed clearly defined future fears have probably also started to take steps to ensure those fears are avoided or at least, less likely to come about through taking those steps. This variable asked students to write about what they had done to avoid that future feared situation. The written responses were coded according to the following scale:

0 = No response given.
1 = Unrealistic or non-specific actions taken.
2 = General actions that might help avoid the stated fear.
3 = Specific actions likely to promote avoidance of the future fear.
