Information
from the net... The Gilberton Swimming Club was founded at about the
time of World War 1. The pool where swimming took place was a
sectioned-off part of the Torrens with access steps cut into the
bank. There was a floating pontoon and a diving platform about 7 metres high. A swing bridge connected the other side of the river and allowed access to the pool for many who lived nearby. |
